International Initiative for Development for Ethnic Art

Language workshops

In its education projects, MIRET not only focuses on the Romani language (Romanes) but also English, Czech and Slovak, which all international participants can master at an elementary level. We feel this is very important as language is the key to understanding.

At our language workshops, all participants have the opportunity to broaden their horizons and with the aid of mentors and supervisors discover their direction in life and achieve their goals. The supervisors coach the participants in such a manner as to avoid further obstacles that the Romani inevitably encounter. Because as the Roma saying goes, "te le gadžes hin phareder dživipen, le Romes hin duvar phareder dživipen" - when life for a gajo (white man) is hard, life for the Romani man is twice as hard.
