International Initiative for Development for Ethnic Art

Music workshops

Every summer, MIRET offers Music workshops as part of the Performing Arts workshops. Lasting for 14 days, these music workshops are held for talented Roma children and youth from ages 8-20 who have been personally selected by the MIRET art team.

Each Music workshop participant has the opportunity to improve his musical instrument skills. It is not important how long he has been playing this instrument - what is more important is his overall relationship with music and the will to learn something new.

Campers learn to master their instruments for solo and group performances.

Original uncoventional techniques allow us to teach, motivate and inspire the children to persevere in music and harness their potential.

From our experience, we are well aware that Romani children have a great music potential, but unfortunately do not have professional guidance. This may result in the development of bad habits which may later negatively effect the future of their artistic development.

For this reason, it is important for the campers to be professionally guided in their work by the MIRET art team.

We also offer professional preparatory courses for the gifted who want to qualify for a place at Music and Performing Arts schools.

The positive, stress-free environment with an individual approach to students provided by MIRET motivates them, and helps them in building their repertoire.

The overall aim is for the students to be musically versatile, stress-free and develop a genuine love for music.
