Romano ňilaj – Romani summer 2013
Summer camp for children: Let us help Roma children to overcome limits of social exclusion.
As we see, dancing and singing it is not only entertainment and joy, but art for us means especially hope and responsibility for moral and spiritual dimension of our life.
In August, o.s. MIRET organizes summer camp for children from children’s homes, Romani settlements, ghettos and socially disadvantaged families.
Experience from previous years proved that this is the best way to help the children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in process of searching for their own identity and integrating into society. Based on previous experience the artistic and educational team of Ida Kelarová prepared the program which makes it possible for children to develop their natural talent and creativity, learn to moral values and get to know their own culture, language and history.
Awakening of pride to their own ethnic group, boost their self-confidence and help Roma children emerge from social isolation is the main goal of this project.
Young Roma who participate in the summer camp are lead to active approach to their life and with that they are good example for the youth and next generation. That helps majority get out of the stereotypes and prejudices as well as it helps Roma, which have bad experience with getting education and job.
The generation of young Roma who participated in camps already become involved in teaching so they can pass on their knowledge and also gain in knowledge about leading the team. That is why those artistic camps have long-term impact on lives and talents of participants.
